1. Q: Who is going to be doing the work?

A: We are a family-owned business and because of our commitment to quality, we do all of the work. We never outsource!

2. Q: How do you restore a deck or fence?

A: We use commercial-grade cleaners along with a pressure washer. Because the environmentally-friendly cleaners will alter the PH balance of the wood, we apply a brightener after cleaning. The brightener restores the PH balance and the natural beauty of the wood. It also prepares the wood for application of a quality stain and sealer.

3. Q: Don't you just take a pressure washer and blast the dirt off the deck?

A: NO! Blasting the wood with a pressure washer can cause damage and possibly ruin a deck or fence. The best way is to let the cleaners do most of the work and use as little pressure as necessary to clean algae, dirt, mildew, mold, or previous stain off wood surfaces.

4. Q: What is your specialty?

A: Most of our customers like to have the natural grain of the wood show through. They also like colors that enhance the wood's natural appearance. That's why our gallery mainly has pictures of semi-transparent all-in-one stains and sealers with light brown and natural cedar colors.

5. Q: What types of stains and sealers do you use?

A: We use the finest contractor-grade all-in-one stains and sealers. They are designed to protect wood from the degrading effects of the weather. They are water-repellent and protect against the damaging UV rays of the sun.

6. Q: What if I want a custom-blended color?

A: That is no problem. Some customers want their deck to match the trim of the house, for example. Again, we also offer the finest contractor-grade stains and sealers for these types of projects.

7. Q: Do you have color samples?

A: Take a look at our gallery to see some of our projects. We feel the best way for you to decide what color is best is to see the colors on projects we have done. Most of the time, color samples in brochures or on websites do not provide an accurate view of how the color will actually look on your deck or fence. However, as a reference, we do provide brochures with color samples when we do an estimate.

8. Q: Can you provide an estimate if I email the dimensions of my deck or fence?

A: The only way to provide you with an accurate estimate is to actually see what needs to be restored. This allows us to assess what needs to be done and explain what we will do to restore your deck or fence.

9. Q: Will you protect my landscape, house, and anything else that requires protecting?

A: Yes. Because cleaning wood requires lots of water, tarps and other methods will be used to protect plants, flowers, and bushes where necessary. During the staining and sealing process, we protect your house, landscape, and walkways to ensure that the stain and sealer ends up only on your deck or fence.

10. Q: I'd like an estimate. How do I reach you?

A: Call us at 630.201.7302 or email info@davidsdecks.com While we attempt to answer each call, VM messages are always returned. Should you email us, please let us know your phone number as well. We will reply by email, but because of spam filters and the large amount of email people get these days, we want to follow-up with a phone call to make sure you received our reply.
